Project Blog - Chemical Engineering Hat Project

My hat - Chemical Engineering
Summary: In our project, we were told to design a hat, based on the chosen engineering career we were given. I was given Chemical Engineering, so I spent most of my time in classes researching the answers to questions. By answering these questions, I learned that the aptitudes needed to be a chemical engineer were being problem-solving, being creative, able to invent new things, can make discoveries, are good in chemistry, and can help others.

Backward-Looking:
  • How much did you know about the subject before we started?
I knew basically NOTHING about chemical engineering before I started, really the only thing I knew about it was that it had something to do with chemicals.

Inward-Looking:
  • What did/do you find frustrating about it?
What I found frustrating about the hat project was how we had to have a RUBRIC for our sources. I also found gluing and taping my information to the hat pretty frustrating, because they wouldn't even stay on, and tape can hold stuff together if glue doesn't work... and the glue was the liquid one too.

Outward-Looking:
  • What grade would you give it? Why?
I would give this grade an A- because I did spend time on my hat, but the information is all over the place and not very organized. Also, it may be hard to read for others, as the paper could be wrinkled.

Forward-Looking:
  • What's one goal you would like to set for yourself for next time?
One goal I would like to set for myself next time is: manage my time more wisely.
