Weekly Engineering Blog (12|05|16 - 12|11|16) - Thermos Challenge

Summary: During this week, our teacher presented the Thermos Challenge to us where we have to design a thermos for her that will keep her water warm, starting at 100 degrees (Celsius). First, we had to complete our background research by learning about temperature and heat. What I did while doing my background research was watch two videos and take notes on them. Then at the end, there was one section labeled "Thermal Insulation" which had an interactive that we had to do. I did that and one step of it was to complete the table with the different materials for a beaker.

Step of the EDP - Brainstorming solutions: I finished the first step which was doing my background research (otherwise known as defining the problem - our teacher needed a new thermos to keep her water warm) on heat and temperature to design a plausible thermos that could withstand being washed (it had to be washable). I have moved onto brainstorming solutions with my team so we can soon move on to designing the prototype and final design for the thermos.
